Assignments

Project One Reflection

For Project 1, it was definitely a bit of a struggle to make the website all on my own. I first tried to get the bones of it down, and then added other elements. I added my images, headings, paragraphs and such and then went back and tailored them. I added lists on two of my pages and changed the styling of the bullets. I also looked up how to indent my lists to make it so they weren't lined up with the paragraphs above them. I personalized my fonts using GoogleFonts to make the website more how I wanted it to look. I used tips from a past assignment to make all the content on my page the same width and height, and added padding on my website banner and page headings. Another element I added was personalizing the page links so that they are a different color before they're clicked, when they're clicked, and when you hover over them. I really struggled with trying to make everything look as neat as possible and was researching a lot and looking back at my FreeCodeCamp lessons for guidance. I also pared down my style sheet a lot at the end becasue I was initially adding too many elemtns to it. I am satisfied with my final product, but know that I can only improve more for the next assignment.

Project Three Reflection

Wordpress was easier and harder than the other things we've done. It is easier to set up the site and invovles less coding but I had a hard time figuring out what I could and couldn't edit the block editor. My content site was easier to figure out. I was able to use CSS and plugins to change the font and the block editor was helpful in adding in videos and different test blocks. I added the Otter plug in to add animations and create a block with my recent posts. The movie posters on the front page are links that take you to the respective blog posts. The commerce site was more difficult. I used Storefront to create it and found it hard to work with. There were certain things I wasn't able to take off that were built into the template on the homepage. Adding products was fairly simple though and I customized the colors and fonts on the site using Google Fonts. I also added customer reviews on the homepage and used the Pullquote block option as well as the Otter plug in to add animations. Overall, I enjoyed Wordpress but could definitely hone my skills even more if given more time.
